Could you use an English major in your pocket?

Have you ever asked a friend or co-worker to proofread for you?

Did they say, “Looks good!” — but missed problems that came to light after the document went to print?

That’s a common experience. Colleagues and friends don’t necessarily have much practice catching errors or provide constructive feedback on drafts. They may also be reluctant to admit that they’re just too busy with their own projects to truly focus on someone else’s.

Unlike random friends and co-workers, I have the experience and skills to get your strategic writing project polished and ready to go. It’s actually my favorite thing to do.

I love working with experts and superfans!

Experts and superfans are immersed in their mission. They tend to communicate with one another in a shorthand full of acronyms and industry jargon that outsiders may not understand.

An organization can’t just talk to itself, though. Grant proposals, web copy, and other forms of strategic writing need to be clear and compelling to a wider audience. A message that makes sense only to experts and superfans will fall flat.

That’s where I come in.

I help experts and superfans craft strategic messages that resonate with an audience outside their bubble of expertise.

You Have Great Ideas.

My mission is to help you achieve your mission with compelling and accurate grant applications, web copy, and other types of strategic writing.

I’ll start by taking the time to understand your organization and its goals. Then, I’ll help you package your plans and expertise into a compelling narrative that will win over your audience.

The big picture is important, but so are the details. I’ll leverage my proofreading skills to make sure that your message isn’t muddled by misspelled words or inconsistent style.

I’m up for anything, but I’m especially comfortable with projects related to education, women’s health, arts and culture, and progressive policy.

Wherever you are in the process, I can help ensure the finished product is clear, complete, and compelling.

WORDS OF WISDOM (and a well-placed semi-colon)

“My gratitude for good writing is unbounded; I’m grateful for it the way I’m grateful for the ocean. Aren’t you?”
– Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird
